Frequently Asked Questions

What is CB Hypnotherapy?

Cognitive Behaviour Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy incorporating your feelings (the cognitive aspect) and your actions (the behavioural aspect) into hypnosis to deliver a more meaningful and powerful message to your mind.  I am trained in evidence-based cognitive and behavioural hypnotherapy.  This means that my hypnosis techniques have been thoroughly tried and tested in a research setting, which involves randomised control trials (RCTs) and case-control studies.

Hypnotherapy is a guided self-hypnosis experience where your attention is focused on a dominant positive idea determined during the session.

What is the difference between hypnotherapy and stage hypnosis?

The purpose of hypnotherapy is to help you feel more satisfied with your everyday life and help you achieve your goals.

Stage hypnosis is a show to entertain people, the purpose therefore is totally different.  Stage hypnotists use various stage techniques (not only hypnosis) to amuse their audience.

What is the difference between hypnotherapy and the various psychotherapy styles?

The main difference is that in hypnotherapy we do not focus our attention on the root cause of your issue. Hypnotherapy is short-term, on average between 8 to 12 sessions, and it is specific to one main issue.

Psychotherapy is long-term; a different kind of journey, looking into your past and exploring the roots of your issues, patterns, feelings etc.

How long is a session and can it be done remotely?

The duration of the 1st session is  up to 2 hours  at no extra charge (depending on the number of issues/topics you want to discuss). Email us for more information on price. Package available at discounted price.

The Smoking Cessation package is £695, payable upfront and non-refundable.  The package includes 1 session of 2.5 hours to 3 hours,  a customised recording and 2 sessions of 1.5 hours each if required after 3 and 6 months.

Online therapy sessions (such as Skype, WhatsApp, FaceTime, Viber, Zoom) are  giving you a great flexibility and comfort.  We feel it is important to offer you the flexibility to get help and support wherever you are.  Online sessions need to be discussed and agreed upon prior to purchasing any sessions. Your remote sessions should be held somewhere quiet, free from distractions, and in a place where you feel safe and secure.

There is a 48-hour cancellation policy. Cancellations received within 48 hours of the start of the session will be due in full.

Will I have to do anything or just let hypnosis “work itself”?

You will need to be engaged in the process.  We will work together to define your goals and the suggestions you want to make to yourself, and I will deliver them.  It is a working therapeutic alliance, where both of us work in cooperation with each other.  We will also agree on tasks/ experiments to do between sessions.  Hypnotherapy is an active therapy where changes happen both on a conscious and sub-conscious level.  Your progress will also depend upon your personal commitment.

Why is your website called “Unlock Your Own Potential”?

We wanted to place emphasis on few simple facts:

· We all have amazing potential

· Our mind is extremely powerful, generally underutilised and overstimulated by negativity

· We generally oppress and lock away our own potential

· We can all unlock our potential to live happier and more fulfilling lives

What are the risks of hypnotherapy? Are there any contraindications?

There are no risks associated with hypnotherapy.

There are contraindications for people suffering from psychosis such as schizophrenia, clinical depression and hallucinations.

We only deal with mild, sub-clinical conditions, and we only work with adults.

What are your qualifications and training? Do you have insurance?

I am trained in CB Hypnotherapy and I am a member of GHR (General Hypnotherapy Register). I follow their code of practice and professional guidelines. I am also trained in CBT, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).  I am constantly increasing my knowledge.  I am fully insured to practise hypnotherapy.

Will I lose control during the session?

Not at all, you will be fully aware, fully awake and fully in control. You will learn to gain control over your issues.  If you are overeating or have a phobia of dogs for instance, you have already lost control over these aspects.  Hypnotherapy can help you regain control.  First we discuss suggestions, and then together we determine what suits you, your values and your personality.  I cannot make you do or think anything against your will.

You are the one who will make the change. You are the one who will unlock your own potential.  I will be there to lead you and show you a new set of skills that we will work with and that you can continue to use in the future, if you so wish.

Is hypnotherapy compatible with my faith?

You will suggest ideas which are in line with your beliefs, your faith and your ethics.  Hypnotherapy cannot make you do or think anything against your will.  You are in control at all times. I am there to deliver and guide you towards reaching your own goals.  My belief is in your potential and I will help you to see that too.

Is hypnotherapy only for problem solving?

No, not necessarily. Some people use hypnotherapy in sports to help them enhance their performance or in art to free up their artistic potential.  Hypnotherapy can also help you focus on and prioritise your goals in life.

What do you guarantee?

I guarantee my personal dedication, confidentiality and care.  Jointly, we will elaborate suggestions and solutions.  I will also work on your situation between sessions to define the most suitable scripts and strategies tailored especially for you.  Hypnotherapy is an active therapy where you have your role to play. You will contribute to your success by participating and engaging with me during each session.
